Here's the new mural of Vachel's "The Wedding of the Rose and the Lotus". The Vachel Lindsay Association contracted with Ace Sign Company to create and install the mural in Downtown Springfield on 5th Street. The installation was completed on February 1, 2008. Thanks to Downtown Springfield, Inc for their support.

Too bad it has that plasticky sheen to it. Is it actually refurbished, or is this a reproduction placed over the original?
My SO saw this blog listed in the sj-r, and I realized there hasn't been much activity here recently.
We're approaching the 10-years-til date for the appearance of the Golden Book of Springfield! Maybe we should write our own, an open-source book of visions for what Springfield can be. Golden Wiki of Springfield.
Would love to visit your fair city and learn more about my ancestors (Edwards/Todd/Baker). Your blogs are informative and inspiring.
Larry -- The site looks as good as wehen I visited last year, and almost exactly the same. I hope you're doing okay. Read at Facebook you own no cell phone and have never visited a Wal-Mart. I am the same re cell phones, but I caved when I had to buy a TV converter box. Haven't been back since. Poets in the Parlor at Vachel House is back in action. Details and pictures are posted at www.aeroknow.com/arts/lindsaypoet.htm
Finally, hope you will add a link to my http://jobconger.wordpress.com blog and delete Writers Chronicle and the other I had in the mid 90s.
KUDOS for this fine effort!
